Remembrance Day 2016

On Friday the 11th Nov, our school will hold a Remembrance Assembly followed by 1 minute’s silence at 11.00am.

We will do this to remember all those who have fought not only in the World Wars, but the more than 12,000 British Servicemen and women killed or injured since 1945.

It is our way of showing respect for them and to thank them for what they have done for us.

We do this each year at the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month. This is because the is the time and date when the First World War ended and all the fighting stopped.

We have been selling Poppies and merchandise from the British Legion in school to raise money for ex-servicemen and women who need our help.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them.”
